历史记录海洋学家和RET。海军队长死于92
Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Don Walsh, best known for his daring dive to the deepest spot on Earth, nearly 36,000 feet below the ocean’s surface, has died at age 92.Walsh was a co-pilot of the Trieste bathyscaphe, a deep submergence vehicle acquired by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in 1958. Two years later, on January 23, 1960, Walsh and Swiss engineer Jacques Piccard, Batyscaphe发明者的儿子成为第一个进入挑战者深处的人,位于太平洋的玛丽安娜沟渠中。我们对允许他探索并与我们分享他的非凡经验和知识的最深切的慰问和感激之情。
