A small plane crashed in a Northamptonshirefield on Friday, June 5, 2026,at approximately 3:50 p.m. BST. The two occupants onboard were taken by air ambulance to the hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.

The light aircraft came down in a crop field along Moulton Road, between the villages ofPitsford and Moulton, just north of Northampton.

According to flight tracking data, the plane took off near Rushden at about 11:00 a.m. and circled close to Stafford before crashing on its return to Northamptonshire.

A resident said his children stated that, before the crash, they:

“saw it doing sort of loops and it looked like it was struggling”

The specific make, model, and registration number of the aircraft have not yet been officially released by investigators or emergency services.

The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) confirmed they dispatched an air ambulance alongside an advanced paramedic, two land ambulances, and a duty commander.They provided immediate, on-scene medical care to stabilise both patients.Local witnesses also reported seeing the air ambulance take off from the crop field shortly after the rescue response.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said it had been:

“notified of an accident involving a light aircraft which occurred near Brixworth.”

The AAIB also stated that an investigation has commenced and enquiries are currently being made to understand the circumstances which led to the accident.

The passengers were rushed over to the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for urgent treatment. Neither the names nor the conditions of the passengers have been released to the public yet.

In order to stop public traffic and ensure a clear, unobstructed path for incoming emergency vehicles, the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and police were called shortly after 3:45 p.m., and they:

“helped to close off nearby roads to ensure emergency vehicles could access the scene.”
