Easier Connections via Major European Hubs
The agreement builds on an earlier interline arrangement signed in June 2025 and marks another milestone in Air India’s global expansion strategy.
Under the partnership, passengers can now book journeys to Riga, Latvia, and onward destinations on a single Air India ticket, enjoying simplified transfers through key European gateways.
The codeshare allows Air India to place its “AI” flight code on airBaltic-operated services between Riga and major European cities, including Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan, Vienna, Zurich, and London Gatwick.
These hubs are already served by Air India, creating seamless onward connections for travellers heading to Northern and Eastern Europe.
For Indian passengers, the agreement removes much of the complexity previously associated with reaching the Baltic region. Instead of juggling multiple airlines and bookings, travellers can now rely on a single itinerary with coordinated schedules and baggage handling.
Strengthening Air India’s Global Network
The collaboration reflects Air India’s broader push to rebuild and modernise its international footprint following privatisation in 2022.
Nipun Aggarwal, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the partnership complements the airline’s existing European services and aligns with rising demand for travel between India and emerging European destinations. He highlighted airBaltic’s strong presence in the Baltics and Scandinavia as a natural fit for Air India’s network.
