The P-1 Fixed- wing Maritime Patrol Aircraft has been in operation since 2013, and the C-2 Transport Aircraft has begun its delivery to the base in March 2017. Japanese manufacturers are participating in the manufacture of the F-35A fighter jet, helping to further strengthen the foundation of the aerospace industry. Delivery of the F-35A has begun in 2018. Moreover, In 2020, the next fighter(F-2 successor) business had been launched under the leadership of Japan, and on December 14,2023, the Japan, the United Kingdom, and Italy held a meeting of defense ministers to establish an efficient collaboration system in the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), which is being jointly developed under the scheme called “GCAP International Government Organisation(GIGO)” and Founding Treaty was signed.
